Swimming in the ocean, with long distances between buoys can be tricky. Today I swam in a 3mi. open water swim at La Jolla Cove, Ca in pristine weather and ocean water conditions and was fortunate to win in 1.12.20. I am quite certain that my results were heavily impacted by my heightened efforts to "feel" the roll of the swells, wind chop, and not let my body become "bent" at the core, but constantly pointing directly at the distant buoys. This is a topic and tip I have seldom seen handed out to open water swimmers, but is an extremely important aspect of successful and enjoyable open water swimming. My future blogs will break down this and other open water swim concepts. You may wish to get more tips at www.tribesthealth.com. Stay tune and happy swimming!
