Boy have things changed . . . .

First off, let me just say I'm sitting in my new house in front of my big screen tv totally hyped to watch all things Olympic and I'm staring at the damn Dish screen that reads "Complete Signal Loss". It's Saturday afternoon, not a freakin cloud in the sky, I already rode this morning and I planned to spend at least ten hours sitting on the couch this weekend drinking my last six pack of Guinness ... Adios my dear Petunia!

Petunia was the name of my very first, high class , road bike! Being that I have not road the dear thing in over 6 months, I decided it was time to pass the torch and let someone else get introduced into the world of triathlon. Petunia brought me into the world of triathlon. She taught me how to bike with clips and pedals, how to fall, how to speed up, and how to slow. She taught me how to get ... Read More

3 weeks out from Nationals!!!

I am so excited to be one of the newest members of EDFRT, Thank you so much!!!! I am honored to be a part of this team. I have had a rough year thus far with a massive bike crash 6 weeks before my 2, 70.3's and one was a Kona qualifer. I had bad, bad rib contusions and a real bad flare up of Achellies tendonitis on top, so I am glad that I am back on track and healthy to race nationals. What I hav... Read More

Race Report: Cort the Sport Third at Colonial Beach International Triathlon

This was my first time racing the Pohanka Honda YMCA Colonial Beach International Triathlon in the Virginia Triathlon Series. It is my 19th triathlon and my 5th at the Olympic/International distance. It's my 4th race of the year. I had only a vague idea where Colonial Beach was; geography is not my strong suit. It’s along the Potomac just east of and midway between DC and Richmond. It turns out... Read More

I wore the yellow-ish jersey

I wore the yellow-ish jersey on my very own Tour de Foggy Ellett Valley. Rider count = 1. I led from the start and despite the peloton of roadside rabbits giving chase, it was not to be their day. I emerged victorious, as I crossed the finish line to (no) cheering at the entrance to Luster's Mill. I would post the elevation profile, but oddly enough, it's nearly identical to what the Tour rider... Read More

Irony at it's best.. Litchfield Hills Olympic Race Report

I decided to do this race on a last minute whim after having a great race at the Regional championships giving me a huge boost of confidence. I placed just outside of the top 20 ( By less than 30 seconds) against the best of the best in my region, and I was stoked. It was going to be my fourth weekend of racing in a row, and I was definitely hoping to catch a break and hopefully be able to final... Read More

Tri-training: no electricity or running water required!

We are on day two of no power or running water thanks to the "derecho" that came through on Friday night knocking down trees and powerlines everywhere. Our county has been told to expect to be back on the grid within the next three days. In the meantime, no electricity means no running water either since we are on a well. The picture above is a tree I drove under, ducking as I did! The picture bel... Read More

Getting in the swim of things

After the last race, and giving up all my time to the winner in the swim phase, I knew it was time to start beefing up the swim training. Yesterday I even swam twice! I swam with these guys first, for about 45 minutes total. These are little sunfish. I swam with these folks in the evening, for about 70 seconds total. These are summer rec league swimmers at our meet. Guess where I felt more at... Read More

Chasing Unicorns -Seaside Sprint Triathlon Report-

Last year I did this race as a backup after I crashed and burned at my first tri of the season the weekend before. It was more of redemption race, and certainly wasn't planned. I enjoyed it so much last year that I decided I would do it again this year. The course suits me since it is completely flat and closed to traffic and I had a new confidence after my performance the week before at the Ri... Read More
